NIMHANS Bangalore OPD Appointment 2026 — Registration, Timings & Complete Guide | nimhans.ac.in

In 1847, the British colonial government established the Bangalore Lunatic Asylum on Hosur Road.

That institution — through 179 years of transformation — is now the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS) — India’s apex centre for mental health and neurosciences. Institute of National Importance. 174 acres. 1,096 beds. 26 departments. Budget ₹917 crore (2026).

There is no other institution in India quite like NIMHANS. And there’s one critical thing most guides get wrong — NIMHANS has three separate lines at the Screening Block. Knowing which line to join saves hours.
